Stepping into Ritual

“Let go of your mind and then be mindful. Close your ears and listen.” – Poet Rumi

I work with ritual as a steppingstone from the ordinary into the extraordinary. An act that supports me to transition from the 'usual' way of being, to live and be in the now in a more engaged way.

Ritual is a pathway to gratitude and an honouring of nature. It is an ‘act’ that helps us to remember where we came from and to reconnect us to the root of our existence, which over time we have forgotten.

It is innate in each of us. For our ancestors it was an inherent way of being. Their existence was inextricably linked to the natural world and the spirits. They did not perform a ‘ritual’, to connect with nature, but through dance, song, prayer, storytelling and gathering around a fire they organically stepped into a language of communication and connection.

They understood that movement was the dance of creation, storytelling was a narrative for how the world began, song created magic, and gathering around fire was a containment for connection, and community.

By observing the way of our ancestors, we too can ‘step into ritual’. When we let go of the expectations for self and start to connect through dance, song, prayer, storytelling and fire we begin a process of reconnection and remembrance. We start to rebuild a dynamic relationship with the energies of creation.

By being mindful, listening to and sensing our inner wisdom and the world around us we are reminded that we are creators, in harmony with the land and the energies of existence.
